New ICS Papers
Teaser: CIP4 has released four new versions of the ICS papers: Basic ICS 1.7, Messaging ICS 1.7, Management Information System ICS 1.7 and Print Procurement ICS 2.

The Base ICS 1.7 paper serves as the cornerstone upon which the other ICS papers are built. It lays down the foundation by establishing a universal framework for data presentation and system communication. Any other ICS paper builds upon the foundational principles established in Base ICS, ensuring coherence and consistency across the spectrum of interoperability standards.
Messaging ICS 1.7 describes which JMF requests and commands should be sent and which responses, signals or acknowledgements should be returned by the receiver.
The MIS ICS 1.7 specification defines the information it should be able to send to or receive from production in three conformity levels. The Gray Boxes, which incompletely specify processes or process groups, play an important role in all three. This is because an MIS usually does not have sufficient detailed information about individual production processes. From the second level, the MIS ICS also controls the JMF messages that enable dynamic communication with the devices. The operational data that an MIS can receive from the devices should also be mentioned in this context.
The Print Procurement ICS 2.1 document standardises business transactions between a print buyer and a print provider. In particular, this document defines a subset of the XJDF and PrintTalk specifications relevant to automated print procurement.
